About Rise a Bakery & Cafe
Hello readers and fellow foodies! My name is Anna Homolka, and I own and operate Rise a Bakery & Cafe. I thought I would share my story with you as well as the history and growth of my business, Rise.
About me:
It all starts in my parents’ tiny kitchen growing up. Mom was always baking something for us 6 kids, and one of us would always have a hand in whatever she was making. As I aged, my love and appreciation for the art of food and baking grew. I would spend my free time watching cooking and baking shows, coming up with my own unique recipes and creating a personal style of working in the kitchen.
Up until now, my craft is self-taught and practiced, with most thanks going to my mom for letting me jump in and experience baking and cooking at a young age. However, recently I began my journey toward a Culinary Arts degree in order to extend my knowledge and further perfect my craft. My passion for food runs deep, and my curiosity and creativity in it runs deeper. Now, with my own growing hungry family, I hope to pass on the same appreciation and interest in cuisine to them. Cooking and baking are learned skills, but the art and passion are born from the soul. I can only hope that those traits are witnessed in what I produce for people to eat and enjoy.

About Rise a Bakery & Cafe:
Now that you have a bit of my personal background and journey, I want to share how Rise began and grown into what it is today.
In the late summer of 2022, I was able to finalize plans for a bakery and cafe. This had been a dream and goal of mine for many years, and it was finally coming to life. Months later, in the fall of 2022, Rise a Bakery & Cafe's doors opened. We wanted to approach the community with a fresh and comfortable spin on the classics, and so far, it's been a success. Our primary location in Downtown Oshkosh is open from 7am-2pm on weekdays, and 6am-1pm on weekends. The laid-back feel of Rise offers a relaxing place to stop before or after work, and provides free wi-fi and seating for students to study.
Rise's bakery offers a selection of fresh handmade baked goods such as scones, cookies, breads, muffins, and cakes. The cafe offers a breakfast and lunch menu, featuring many diversified and elevated classics such as salads, wraps, pancakes, soups and more. Our cafe also has a variety of cold and hot drinks that will successfully quench any thirst cravings. Ultimately, there is something for everyone at Rise. We hope that you give us a try, and experience firsthand what our story and food is all about.
